Miss the Fortnite OG Butterfly Event? Don't worry, we've got you covered! Even though it might not be the most talked-about version, the classic Fortnite experience continues to surprise us with unique events. The recent Butterfly event was a nostalgic trip back to the original, and it brought some significant changes to the game's landscape. Let's dive into what happened!
The event, which started at precisely 2 PM ET, unfolded during ongoing matches and lasted for about 2 minutes. Unlike some past events, there were no reported matchmaking issues or countdown timers, so if you blinked, you might have missed it.
So, what exactly went down in the Fortnite OG Butterfly Live Event?
Well, as the leaks suggested, it was a callback to the original event from seven years ago. The malevolent Cube, hovering above Leaky Lake, exploded and transported players to a cosmic realm. Here, players witnessed the familiar mystical visuals of Chapter 1, but this time, with a red Cube at the center.
After a few moments of floating in space, the cosmic butterfly appeared, much like the original. It fluttered around, and then, the butterfly zoomed towards your character, eventually landing on their finger. This action teleported players back to the Island, right above a redesigned Leaky Lake.
The floating island is now gone, leaving a crater where it once stood. At the center of the POI, players can find the same purple crystals from Chapter 1. The Butterfly event was a nostalgia trip for veterans, and it also dropped some Chapter 7 teasers that will have the community buzzing for weeks.
But here's where it gets controversial... Did this event live up to the hype, or was it a bit underwhelming? Did it provide enough closure to the Cube saga?
And this is the part most people miss... The event was a reminder of how Fortnite continues to evolve, constantly changing and offering something new to players, old and new.
